Is there a certain time when you should put shoes on your baby? My 10 month old daughter is walking a bit.?

My 10 month old is walking , but really hates any shoes I put on her. Do I really have to put her in shoes especially when it%26#039; s summer and she can be outside barefoot? Will not wearing shoes for a while hurt her later?

they don%26#039;t need %26#039;em unless they%26#039;re going outside - to protect their feet from sharp things and stinging insects they might step on.
Reply:Neither of my girls wore shoes unless they were walking outside. That%26#039;s really the only time they %26quot;need%26quot; them.

I bought really soft shoes called Robeez. It protected their little feet, but were soft and flexible enough that it didn%26#039;t interfere with them learning to walk.
Reply:Its pretty much up to you i would any time she could hurt her feet otherwise I wouldn%26#039;t worry about it those %26quot;baby%26quot; shoes don%26#039;t have much flexability on the soles alot of times and would be very uncomfortable. I don%26#039;t like shoes much myself but I can%26#039;t see how not wearing them now would hurt her later.
Reply:I just talked to my doctor about the same thing last week. My son started walking, and he hates his shoes. The doc told me around the house barefoot is best. Outside barefoot is only okay on safe (nothing sharp, surface not hot, nothing dangerous he can step in) surfaces. I let him walk on our lawn with no shoes but on concrete, or in public places he has his shoes on. when he isn%26#039;t walking(in a stroller at the mall) i take them off his feet. Babies feet develop better without shoes on, just be very careful about where you let her walk barefoot a child got 2nd degree burns from walking on the asphalt in my city last week.
Reply:I read that when a baby starts walking not to put shoes on them right away because of their balance. When she starts walking a little more and better than put some shoes on her.
Reply:NO YOU DON%26#039;T NEED SHOES ON YOUR BABY!! It%26#039;s easier for babies to learn to walk without shoes. Shoes can actually slow down her progress. No, you don%26#039;t have to put shoes on her outside as long as you know she%26#039;s not going to get into ants or stickers.
Reply:she may not like the shoes, but it is a good thing for her to get used to. when my sister was a baby my parents never put shoes on her. she eneded up walking on her tippy toes until she was about 5/6 years old and they needed to see the doctor to correct that. plus, shoes are for protection. what if she steps in something or on a sharp object that you didnt see? plus...shoes causes less stress on the back and spine, if she is walking around barefoot all the time later on it may effect those areas. just make sure she%26#039;s got the right size shoes on and find a pair she is comfortable in. try open ended shoes, her feet may feel less stuffed....good luck!
Reply:The doctor told me the best thing for them is barefoot.. It helps them with balance and strengthens thier feet and ankles.. unless there is an orthopedic problem. It is up to you.. I make my little ones wear shoes when they are outside and in public..
Reply:With my older son, we didn%26#039;t buy him shoes until he walked outside. He started walking in February, but it was too cold to play outside (we were in Michigan) so we held off on the shoes until May. He%26#039;s 29 months now, and his feet are fine.

My younger son just turned 13 months, and we%26#039;re currently in the market for some shoes.

I wouldn%26#039;t buy shoes for your baby until she walks outside. Letting her walk barefoot is sort of dangerous. You never know what%26#039;s in the grass (ants, bugs, sharp sticks, etc.)
Reply:absolutly not actualy my doc said it is better to not have your baby in shoes till after the age of 1.And it is also cheeper.....who has the money to buy new shoes every month...not me.
Reply:If she is walking put shoes on her I did the same thing. My son didnt wear shoes for the longest time he learned to walk barefooted and it was like learning all over again when he wore shoes.
Reply:Yes when your little one is attempting to walk, start putting proper shoes on her feet. So she learns properly walking. Get them fitted and a good sturdy shoe or even runner. But go in a shoe store for her first pair of shoes, it is very important. Look at some Toddlers feet how bad they walk and you get my point.
